I am a qualified counsellor using aspects of humanistic, psychodynamic, compassion focused therapy and cognitive therapies adapted to suit your needs.
I love what I do and have a profound sense of delight when clients discover aspects of themselves and find new ways of thinking and living.
My training course taught both Western and Buddhist Psychology to explore human behaviour and the way forward to a happier, more contented life and acceptance of things that can’t be changed.
My course also included creative methodologies such as painting, imaginative visualisation, psychodrama, drawing, sculpting with objects and role play that have proved helpful to clients over the years.
I have worked as a counsellor since 2013 gaining considerable experience working in a local counselling agency, a hospice with dying patients and bereaved clients and a charity working with clients with a wide variety of issues.
Membership, Qualifications & Experiences
I am a member of the British Association Of Counselling and Psychotherapy which means I am recognised as a qualified practitioner. I adhere to the ethical framework laid down by the BACP both on a professional and personal level.
I receive fortnightly supervision from a qualified supervisor to ensure my work is ethical, safe and effective.
I am a mindfulness practitioner having completed four 10 day silent retreats learning the art of meditation. Meditation is a twice daily practice for me and the benefits from this I have found useful in daily life and in my professional work.
Self reflection and continued personal and professional development are important to me. I ensure I keep learning by attending training days, workshops, online training events, reading, keeping a learning journal and self reflection.
